My Story
I was born in the state of Jalisco Mexico, and moved to the US when I was six. Moving from Mexico to the US had its challenges, like learning a new language and getting used to the climate in Michigan. Growing up near the Motor City, caused me to become passionate about cars and the automotive industry.
My Engineering Journey
My journey in engineering began when I took an engineering class in my freshman year of high school. While I was told that the class was difficult I decided to give it a try and see if was interested in engineering. This class covered the different engineering fields, and exposed me to engineering as a career. All it took was this one class to make me realize that I wanted to become an engineer, however I was still undecided on the type of engineering. The following years of high school I took more general engineering courses, and mechatronics and computer science. I was also a part of FIRST robotics and an Underwater Robotics (ROV) club. These introduced more engineering concepts and allowed me to see what type of engineering I wanted to pursue, and they ultimately played a key role in my decision to major in Electrical Engineering. Growing up near Detroit and Dearborn also provided me with the opportunity to see new prototype vehicles made by Ford as well as tour their Dearborn Plant and seeing just how much happens behind the scenes to make a vehicle.
My Career in Engineering
While completing my degree in electrical engineering I have been able to intern at both DTE Energy and the Ford Motor Company. Growing up near Dearborn and being interested in the automotive industry made Ford a great place to intern. I have now interned with the company for three years in manufacturing.
